New Year, New Blog

This blog is for the personal side of gail@MyRepurposedLife

I will bog personal challenges and triumphs here.

I plan (word of the year) to make a lot of changes this year, and by writing it down, it will keep me accountable. I have a lot of time on my hands these days, and I've found myself becoming a little lazy.  I'm setting some short term goals and some long term goals.  I find that it is much easier to set short term goals, as I don't really have any major plans for 2013.  I'm not really a dreamer, I'm generally pretty practical, so short of winning the lottery, I don't see any big changes for MRL or gail.

Short term, I plan to do the Peter Walsh challenge on Facebook.   It's a 31 day "de-clutter" challenge.  I will be a day behind.  I looked, and he's on the west coast and hasn't posted today's "assignment" yet.  Each day I will blog the assignment here, and dutifully follow through with the assignment within the next day. That way IF you don't have facebook, you can still "play" along.  :)

Also short term, I "plan" to walk 15 minutes a day.  Now when I say walk, I mean the Leslie Sansone-Walk Away The Pounds  way.  I have done her program off and on for years and I know it works. (IF you do it)  It's simple, and adaptable for any lifestyle.  I know the routine, and can easily do it while watching regular tv. Her Start! Walking with Leslie Sansone 1 & 2 Mile Walk is basically what I do.  Each mile takes about 15 minutes, so when you work your way to 3 miles, you're committing to 45 minutes.
I weighed in this morning at 170, which is 8 pounds down from the Spring.  I vowed then to lose some weight, and I'm still there all these months later.  My goal weight is always 149, because I want to stay under 150.  It's been awhile since I've been there.  My "plan" is to eat less, move more.  I've never been much of a dieter, never any FAD diets.  I'm too picky of an eater for that.

On a whim this morning, I tweeted a picture of my kitchen.  I plan to do that each and every morning.  It does two things--it documents what time I rolled my lazy butt out of the bed, and the state that I left the kitchen in from the night before.  My kitchen really is the heart of my home. It's where everything tends to pile up, mail, receipts, crafts, anything and everything.  I clean on it all the time, but I never seem to get anywhere. You can see the kitty litter that got dropped in a chair, my coat that I didn't hang up, some small oops paint on the island, an old scrabble game to the left of the stove, to the right of the stove, some bread I need to throw out to the birds.  Good news-there were no dirty dishes in the sink, and the cleans ones were put away from the drain basket.
Also on a whim, I started this blog, MRL IRL  which is My Repurposed Life In Real Life.  :)  clever eh?

So, to recap
I will PLAN ahead to do things
I will de-clutter
I will walk 15 minutes a day
I will take a picture and be held accountable for my kitchen, the good, the bad, the ugly.

long term goals?  stay tuned

If you follow along, you will get to know me better.  I will be honest and up front with you.  No sponsored posts, but there will be some google ads on the sidebar, and some Amazon affiliate links when there's something I want to show you. (hey, a girl's got to make a living, right?)
